We happened to be in Fairbanks for the weekend of the Golden Days festival. After watching some of the parade, we went to the local Farmers Market. We bought a huge kohlrabi and egg-sized radishes, which had a lot of bite. The most interesting event was the Midnight Sun Indian powwow that we were able to watch. It took place under a large red and white tent and included Indian dancers of all ages. The audience even participated in some dances. We really enjoyed this demonstration of Indian handicraft and heritage.
Our next stop is Denali National Park, home of Mt. McKinley. She is only visible about 30% of the time and rain is moving in but we hope for just one clear day. The weather has been beautiful so far. Love and blessings to all who read this blog.
